A Wonderfully Engineered Product Review by Sasha's Mom
Overall Rating I love this system and want to report that I use it to listen to Audiobooks while swimming. I download audiobooks from the public library onto the nano, and I can easily understand the words as I swim. This is amazing and I thank H2O Audio for developing it. Now lapswimmiing is a wonderful time for me to catch up on "reading" while getting in lots of laps--often more than I would otherwise because now I am no longer bored. (Posted on 1/29/11)

Just Amazing Review by Fish
Overall Rating I got this as a Christmas Gift from my Wife and Kids, and thought it was more or less just a novelty. After 2 weeks of use in the surf and pool at the Outer Banks in North Carolina, I am a convert. I use a Body Board, and will sometimes stand in the surf for hours waiting for good waves. Having my iPod with me and listening to tunes adds significantly to the fun. Its a bit scarry at first taking your electronics into the water, but it worked great. We even took it out when we went Jet-skiing so we could have videos of the day. It takes practice to remember that the lens is at the bottom of the iPod, and that with the small screen its not really possible to watch the video while you are driving at high speed. But, since the "film" is free, all you have to do is shoot a lot of video, and you will capture some amazing shots. I don't swim laps, but I could see where this would be priceless if you did.

Changed my life! Review by Becky
Overall Rating I swim at the Y and sometimes the noise is deafening as it bounces around - not anymore! I have been swimming with it 4-5 days a week for about 6 months and the chlorine bleaching has been minimal. I can get into the "zone" and the time zips by as I swim laps and I swim harder to the beat of the music. This is my second H2o ipod product, I also have one for my Itouch. This is not nearly as bulky, easy to work with, and always secure on my arm. I have noticed that I do not swim as hard without it, and it is now a permanent part of my gym gear . At first I thought it a tad expensive, now I know that it is such a necessity and it was bargain. Thank you H2o. (Posted on 8/11/10)

Great product Review by WMDunkin
Overall Rating I have done my own testing of this product. It has blown away everything that I have thrown/dropped it in. The quality is great, and the case doesn't mess with the lens to shoot video. I can't wait to test this in mexico in a few weeks!! (Posted on 6/8/10)

Great Motorcycle Accessory Review by Steve J.
Overall Rating My wife bought me this... and I kind of groaned, because I was never really happy with the Otterbox for my old ipod. So with low expectations I took the "Capture" on it's inaugural voyage last weekend for the Moonshine RTE. It attached snugly to my tankbag via the armband thingy that comes with it. Given the smaller form factor of the Nano 5th gen, the case seems not at all big. And, being waterproof enough for underwater use down to 12 feet it is plenty waterproof enough for any weather I'll ever experience on the bike. But its best feature is the clever way it allows you to use the click wheel. Extremely slick, and totally glove-friendly. The Nano by itself might be workable with a light summer glove, maybe not. Put it in the case and you can comfortably operate it with any glove. Even the wheel. Without needing to be looking at it. So if you have it mounted where you can easily get to it, the case eliminates any need for a remote. The case even allows you to use the Nano's video recording capabilities. I was very impressed with it. (Posted on 4/26/10)

Cheap way to an underwater video camera Review by Stefaroonie
Overall Rating We use our nano all the time as a quick and easy video camera. I found out about this case and was a little skeptical of how good the picture would look in the water but it's been GREAT. I don't think there is a cheaper solution to make a waterproof video camera. We filmed the kids in the pool on our last vacation and got some great shots. You can even hear the sound through the case! One tip we found though... the lens area on the case is kind of beveled and water droplets tend to stick there. I'd recommend blowing on the lens once in a while to clear out any water drops that might ruin the video. (Posted on 4/8/10)

Hey can I see that? Review by Strakap
Overall Rating Ya Man, I didn't know these existed till about 6 months ago when I saw a guy with it on in the sauna. I bought one the next day and I am very satisfied. This enhances the water experience tremendously. Its been in the pool, ocean, hot tub, sauna, and everywhere, people are saying, "Hey can I see that".

Great, I love it Review by Harriet B
Overall Rating I had a different case prior to getting this one, and it leaked. This one is so wonderful, as it never leaks and I have no worries about using it. It sometimes is difficult to open the case when it is locked, but it is worth the effort to know that my nano will stay dry. (Posted on 4/6/10)

Outstanding - must have! Review by Indestructible!
Overall Rating Opening the well packed box of the professionally packaged items; Capture waterproof case with armband, extension belt, and waterproof earbuds, everything was tucked up very nice.
Opened everything up and popped in the nano, fit like a glove. Checked to make sure the seal was set correct as stated in the directions, closed the lid and locked it in. Highly suggest get a cool color nano as with the crystal clear case of the Capture it really is noticeable with an almost “check me out” flair without being neon!
Before moving on I found to remove your Nano from the case, after opening it up, use your thumb nail on the bottom of your Nano to help pry/slide it up and off of the built in headphone jack.
First time in pool… I was skeptical about the ear bud style head phones, I have never been able to get a pair to work correctly while running. I tightened the extension belt and positioned the nano case at the small of my back and placed the earbuds in while dry as suggested. They sounded great but I was still on the edge of the pool… Jump in, submerge, and streamline… These things sound AWESOME!
First lap cruising with the tunes… Darn lost the left one. I stop and tuck the feed cord under my goggles and reposition the earbuds. I also tightened up the waist belt as I could feel the drag after a turn. Off again… No drag this time and I could not believe the sound quality. I think the hardest thing with this setup is NOT over doing your training. It is so easy to lose count of laps and work harder that you were planning on.
Time to try the video -
Swim Stroke clinic I was able to video my swimmers and show them where their stroke was incorrect.
Another day I was able to have a little fun videoing our triathlon club indoor tri Most didn't know I was doing it and it gave them quite the scare. Fun to post those videos…
The Capture case by H2O Audio gives anyone the opportunity to have an underwater video camera with the Nano for quick technique check and playback and or just having fun. Very nice item to have for coaches and non coaches!
UPDATE!!! I use the capture case when running. was in a race this weekend and did not have the safety band attached. iPod went flying! kicked many times by many runners and hitting the ground hard... picked it up, plugged the ear buds back in, didn't miss a beat! Few scratches but everything else fine. used it back in the pool last night with no problems! (Posted on 4/6/10) -
Good gear, but not perfect for hard swimming Review by Ben
Overall Rating The Capture case is a new waterproof case for the 5th generation iPod Nano. They make cases for the various iPod models, but since I have a Nano, this was the one for me. This new case supports the Nano's built in video camera and enlarged screen. It's made of a completely clear plastic with a strong hinge, and the locking mechanism is foolproof with pictures on the front to differentiate between locked and unlocked. The iPod slides into the opened case, and down onto a built in 3.5mm audio plug. This completely insulates the iPod from the earphone connection.
The waterproof headphones come with 5 extra sets of earplugs providing a range of sizes to fit different sized ears. The headphones use a standard 3.5 audio plug, but have a huge rubber casing protecting the attachment of the jack to the cable. This is used to ensure water can't get in around the headphone connection point. The audio plug connects to the audio jack of the headphone case, located inside a short sleeve at the bottom of the case.
Once i was actually in the water and swimming with the unit, I realized two important things:
The armband that comes with the case doesn't cut it for swimming. It may work well for smaller users in a running environment, or perhaps for surfing or boating, but certainly not for anyone of a larger build or with a decent amount of bicep muscle mass, as many swimmers do. And in my view, definitely not for swimming.
The ear buds need to be worn with the cord coming behind the back as opposed to in the front. Swimming freestyle or breast stroke with the cords being worn in front, the motions can be strong enough to cause the ear buds to pop out.
Aside from the waterproof aspect of the Capture, the most important point is of course the sound quality. I found the sound to be superb. Considering all of the technical requirements of building a waterproof system, I wouldn't have been surprised to hear the audio quality take a back seat. Thankfully not only is the audio crisp and clear, but it doesn't seem to distort, even at higher volume. I am not sure the ear buds produce enough bass for my liking, but that will take additional testing to determine. There's no tinny-ness to the sound, and the quality is at least comparable to standard headphones. The only weird thing is that if you don't have the music very loud is that you can hear the sloshing of the water around your head as you swim.
I know that I'm not the only user who has has these issues, as another swimmer (a normal sized guy) came up to me afterwards with his own h2oAudio unit (and here I was thinking I was the coolest guy at the pool), and was asking me about the earplug adjustments and how I was doing with using the unit. He was having specific problems with one earplug not fitting right, and with the fit of the armband. I mentioned getting the various sized earplugs wet, and that I had abandoned the idea of using the armband while swimming, and simply clipped the unit to the waistband on the back of my tri shorts, which worked perfectly for me.
In closing, I have to say the h2oAudio system lived up to what I thought it would, and more really. It took me a couple laps to get used to having it on, because it's a bit different to have headphones in while swimming. After a couple laps, I hardly noticed I had them on, and just enjoyed the music. (Posted on 4/6/10)
